If you're looking to hike Preikelstolen then this is no doubt the best place to stay. Getting free access to the main car park means you can just wake up and hike. The building is great and has a lovely view over the water which is a nice way to start your day when having breakfast. The staff are kind and super helpful. The breakfast is also quite nice - as is the food if you were to have lunch or dinner.
The rooms are quite small and compact with minimal storage, but this was expected from the booking - don't be bringing massive suitcases and expect to not have to walk around them. The soundproofing could be improved - being next to the social area meant if people were chatting late at night then it would be tricky to sleep. The bathroom also had a weird sewer-like smell coming from it in the morning, so perhaps the pipes need a looking at.

I liked that the check-in/check-out process is online, you can check in yourself. I liked the breakfast at the hotel. And the location, there is simply no place closer to Prekistullnu, and not only to it, there are several hiking trails, you can’t go around everything in one day, so it’s better to book a room for several days
I'll be banal, but price-quality. I understand that I'm in Norway, but I paid more than 200 dollars for a small room, for less than a day for a room covered with plywood. This is the main minus for me, everything else is great

Can't beat the location! We stayed 2 nights in a family room with a view of the lake. We hiked Preikestolen on our first day and around the lake the second day (the former was fantastic, and the latter was pleasant but I wouldn't do it again). The beds were very comfortable, and good sleep quality with a blackout shade. Check in is automated so there wasn't really much opportunity to interact with the staff, except the servers in the restaurant. I would have liked to have someone to ask questions about hiking in the area. Breakfast was excellent! Dinner was great too (but pricey)
We had a great experience overall, but there were a few things that could be better: Room walls are a bit thin and transmit noise One of the cooks in the restaurant was pretty rude (loudly badmouthing our child) when we made a special request about leaving toppings off one of the dinner dishes - he was in the kitchen but we could hear him from across the restaurant. Two suggestions: It would be nice to have a kettle for boiling water and making tea in the rooms. Have an info book in the room with details on breakfast hours, hikes, rental prices, etc., instead of just having this on computers at the entrance

The area was absolutely beautiful, the hotel is a lovely design with all common room windows looking towards the fjiord. It is beautifully decorated in the Norwegian style. The restaurant food was delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful with good advice. The room was compact but clean and very comfortable. We were able to fit our motorbike gear in there. The beds were comfortable, too. The breakfast was good with delicious bread.
Nothing to dislike. Although, a hairdryer would have been useful.

Wonderful hotel!! Right @ base of Pulpit Rock trail. Beautiful natural wood inside with a great restaurant. The food was all made to order, lovely lady cooking and the veal was tasty. Breakfast was great too! Our son traveled w us and hiking here was on my Bucket list. He treated me for my 70th birthday. So get out there!! I made it to Pulpit Rock after having 2 knee replacements. You can do it and BaseCamp is a phenomenal place to stay!!
Likes everything!!

The best location to hike on Preikestolen, amazing view to the lake, very good restaurant and nice people! We spent 6 nights there, in the nature. From Preikestolen BaseCamp we went to visit Stavanger, hike Kjeragbolten and visit Haugesund (2h drive), Viking Farm,The National Monument, etc.
We couldn'"t reach the accomodation one night, coming back after hiking Kjeragbolten. At 2.15 the Ryfylke Tunnel was closed till 5 am. to be washed.....so we spent a few hours in the car, waiting.....But I still belive this accomodation is the best for this part of Norway and I hope to come back one day!

The hotel's location is excellent, right at the starting point of the Trolltunga hiking trail, and they offer free parking for guests. This was the only hotel we booked with breakfast on our trip to Norway, and the breakfast was quite generous. Staying at the hotel had a significant advantage as we were able to hike to Trolltunga twice, once on the first afternoon and again on the second morning, of course, thanks to the good weather.
The room was relatively small but very unique. There was also no kettle in the room, but considering the affordable price, this was reasonable. The parking area was a bit of a distance from the front desk, and the dirt road wasn't very suitcase-friendly for large travel bags.

Super location near the starting point of the hike to Preikestolen. Easy to get there either by car or a bus (e.g. Pulpit Rock tour), about 1 hour from the city central bus station. Cool view to the lake and mountains. Nice restaurant with super tasty food (salmon is awesome) and cafe. It's always possible to buy some snacks for a hike (you can find them in restaurant/cafe/tourist shops). Facilities like frisbeegolf, hottub, sauna. Another hike besides Preikestolen I'd recommend is Moslifjellet. It's much less crowdy (I actually didn't meet anyone on that hike), a bit more challenging and wild. It's not visible on google maps but you can find it on e.g. openstreetmaps.
Buildings are old (but condition is excellent) and sound isolation is very poor. You can hear every step and conversation not only neighbors but almost every inhabitant of a building.

When we got to our room it had not been cleaned, I went to staff and they solved the problem immediately. All staff were very friendly. The hike to Prekestolen, though crowded, was well maintained and held the amount of people on the trail. There were other quiet trails nearby that we enjoyed. All the amenities were very nice.
There were several drones at Prekestolen despite the 🚫 signs. The drones were disruptive and unpleasant.

View was wonderful, but i didn't expect nothing less on such nice location! Breakfast was very nice, but it have still place to become better. My companions liked contactless check in and out
Coffee machine was broken, and second was empty so that was a bit frustrating. It was looking like they don't have enough stuff to fix everything fast so we needed to wait. And i didn't like bathroom doors, how they cant close
