Everything was great. Beautiful historic property in the middle of downtown Roscommon. Junior suite was spacious, and the bed was super comfy. Restaurant provided an excellent selection of menu breakfast options...not the typical Continental Buffet you see at other hotels. Dinner menu was very good as well. Dog friendly! Walking distance to Roscommon Castle and the Abbey Ruins. A scenic 25 min drive to the Irish National Famine Museum and Strokestown Park.
Roscommon itself does not have that many evening dine-in food options. The restaurant in the Gleeson is great (and popular). The restaurant next door, Regan's Gastro Pub, is also great (two doors down). Aside from that there appeared to be few options unless you want Italian or a myriad of take-aways.

Gleeson’s is well located on Main Street for all the shops and facilities in the town. The restaurant is popular and always welcoming. The rooms are comfortable with all the things which you would expect. The breakfasts are cooked to order which is not always done in larger hotels. It is a family business, and has stood thetest of time, having been there for a good many years now.
For a stay of 3 nights we found the bedroom a bit smaller than we would like with larger pieces of luggage. Our room was over the function room so we had unexoected entertainment on Saturday night, which was not too disturbing but we could hear all the songs clearly from below..On busy evenings we couldn’t easily find somewhere to park because many of the spaces were designated for electric car charging even though not cars were parked there. But these aren’t major complaints and we are very likely to return there to stay.

The staff are the absolute stand out at this place. The townsfolk generally were all exceptionally welcoming but we found the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The food (breakfast and dinner) was varied and suited all tastes and was really good value given the current economic climate. The rooms are a bit dated but even that made them more homely, the place was very clean and tidy and rooms were serviced daily. The restaurant was often very busy and frequented by locals which is always a good sign.
It doesn't dress itself up as something it is not, the lack of a bar licence beyond the restaurant opening hours is the only negative but honestly there are so many places to go for a drink in the evening this wasn't really an issue for us.

The property has a beautiful finish and lovely decor and the food was lovely and it had a great energy.
We couldn’t check in early as we were at a recording session and when we got into our room the stink of cigarette smoke was very overwhelming we saw butts from cigarettes outside the window. We were given a reduction of 14 euro by the property because we booked through this app they said there were limits but as I have asthma I had to sleep all night with the window open. I wasn’t sure if it was a guest or a staff member did this staff we were told staff didn’t notice it and then that staff had the windows open ages while cleaning the room so I’m not sure what to say except it was very overbearing and unfair after a long day working to sleep in a small room with that especially as an asthmatic I needed my medication to cope. We propped the window open all night.

Everything, especially the friendliness of the staff, special mention for Pauline, the restaurant manager, who once she found out I was looking for my mother birth place. Pauline phoned a lady called Eilish Feeley, who is a genealogist, and helped me to find out a lot about my Irish ancestors. I strongly recommend this lady if you need to find your past. The food was lovely, and the breakfast was outstanding. Would definitely stay here again. First time to the town of rosscommon, but it definitely won't be the last, a beautiful little town with a lot of history. Loads to see, i.e., the Abby, the castle plus plenty more...
The weather but nobody's fault

Loved this Gem in Roscommon Town. From the moment I arrived in the car park Noel the maintenance man helped me park, very nice ,helpful chap..Olivia on reception was so friendly and explained everything and arranged me a taxi to the wedding venue I was attending. The room was lovely, bed very comfortable and bathroom beautiful. The breakfast was perfect all included in price and 2 teabags in the teapot was a nice change. Very relaxed place, staff couldn't do enough for their guests. Highly recommend 100% Thank you Gleesons I'll definitely be back.
Everything was PERFECT. Could not fault one thing

Already said location - excellent; staff - excellent especially the restaurant staff; food - excellent; value for money; bedroom - excellent.
There was only one thing that spoilt the Gleeson's experience - there wasn't a resident's bar. It closed at 9pm, so we had to find a bar somewhere else to relax before going to bed. Thankfully, the weather was kind to us. For this reason I would have to consider going somewhere else when we come back to Roscommon.

Well located, close to amenities and with private parking around the back including an electric charger for the car. Great food, pet-friendly (the dog could stay with us during dinner in the bar area), very friendly staff and housekeeping staff also very helpful and kind! There is no elevator but our 1-year old loved climbing up and down the carpeted stairs :) Our suite was very comfortable and spacious, the living room had blinds which was ideal for when the baby was napping during the day.

Excellent breakfast Friendly staff Great location
We were a group with separate rooms. We all paid the same price, standard double room inc breakfast but unfortunately some of the group had the newly refurbished rooms and some didn’t. Cleaners were very slow in servicing rooms and didn’t do a great job when they did service rooms on our 3 night stay. I think the cleanliness does need to be looked at especially in the non refurbished rooms

The hotel is situated in the centre of the town. There is ample car parking to the rear of the hotel and clear directions to the reception area. The hotel was nicely decorated and very welcoming. The staff were very helpful. Even though it was a busy night and we hadn't booked dinner they fitted us in. Dinner choice was varied and very tasty. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and lots of choices. Breakfast is all table service, a lovely touch - not a buffet in sight and breakfast was served until 11am so no rushing down early either.
It is an old building so quite a few steps to reach the bedrooms. I have mobility problems so it wasn't easy to negotiate but I should have checked beforehand. The step into the shower was also high for a person with mobility problems. The bedroom was cold and I ended up having to use a heater as well as the central heating
