Wonderful location, kind and helpful staff, very good breakfast (and bread!!)
We were a bit disappointed by a few things that were not matching the price tag: in the bathroom the shower head was super-old and was leaking from all sides + at the base. Also, the hot water isn’t consistent (constant wave of either too warm / too cold). And finally, even if there is no full housekeeping, simply emptying the bins would be nice, especially for guests staying more than a couple of nights. These are simple things and would make a real difference in our opinions

We were given a room in a new wing of the hotel that was so new it felt like we could be the first ones to stay in it. The downside is that things weren't quite completed yet (hallway floors not complete, wires sticking out of the room ceiling (perhaps for a ceiling fan), no toilet paper holder, etc.). Shower - spacious, good water pressure, water nice and hot. Note that the shower space is to one side of the bed while the toilet room is in a separate space on the other side of the bed. We stayed in two places with this setup while in Iceland and Hestheimer's was of higher quality. Beds - comfy, and the room had space for four beds, two of which were on sort of bench setups and were much firmer, which my partner appreciated. Noise level - blissfully quiet, which allowed us to get a great night's sleep Other property notes - we didn't have their breakfast but it's an option if you want to pay for it. There is free tea and coffee for the taking anytime. There is a great dining/sitting space guests can enjoy anytime. Overall, a very nice establishment and we'd stay again.
The separate shower vs. toilet rooms weren't ideal. The shower had a small window across from the shower head with no window coverings for it. While the property backs up to a field, technically someone could wander back there and look in. The unfinished bits were a little annoying but hopefully fixed soon.

We loved our stay at Hesthaimer. We would definitely return if given the chance. Our room looked newly built, clean and felt very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the whole place felt homey. They also have a spa where you can relax after a long day visiting this beautiful island.
- Although they offer blackout curtains, the shower window has no covering available and it lights up the room quite a lot (you'll still need a good sleeping mask) - The spa water looked dirty

What an amazing stay, fantastic. The cottages are super well equip, they are very spacious and confy. What surprised me the most was the scenary around. It's fells amazing working in the morning with the view of the farm, the horses, just fantastic. The location is perfect, just few killometers after Sellfoss were you can do groceries, perfect stop if you are coming from the Golden circle and heading to the famous spots in the south coast. Or the other way around. We had a lovely surprise, there was a female cat around the cottage, we love cats and she promptly entered in our cottage as soon as we opened.
There's just one thing to complain, the WIFI, they should fix that for the price they charge. We had mobile to backup but we were expecting to have a decent WIFI there. I get it, it is a farm, but they have internet there, it's just the signal that is not good. I work with this kinda thing and it's not something hard to fix to have good signal on every cottage. Also, we loved having the cat visiting us, but they should make more clear about that, we weren't sure if we should take the cat to the reception or just leave her on the outside during bed time. It was lovely but they should've warned the guests about the cat and what was ok to do. Not a big deal, just called the reception and they explained to us, but it would be nice to receive that information up front!

We really enjoyed this cottage and the location, away from everything. It is part of a horse farm and it was wonderful to look out our many window views to see the Icelandic horses. The views were just gorgeous and having a private deck with table to eat our breakfast and enjoy the view and the snow was lovely. Absolutely plenty of room in the cottage, and we really loved the warming towel rack. We also liked the cats that seemed to belong on the farm. They were sweet and quite friendly. We had an impressive northern lights display during the evening and with no light pollution it was brilliant. We also went to bed and listened to the rain and then snow fall and woke up to the most beautiful scenery. We loved the couch and lounging area and a place in the kitchen to cook and eat. It was very relaxing sitting on the couch with a hot cup of tea and a book and look out the window. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant looked lovely.
There were no bowls that we found in the kitchen which wasn't a big deal. We used coffee/tea cups for our soup. This is just an observation, but there is no microwave. That was not a big deal for us, but it might be handy. I wish we had paid attention to our arrival and dinner times. We should have made a dinner reservation for the night we arrived as it seemed like it would be really nice. We didn't like that we didn't book another night there because we enjoyed it!

The staff was very welcoming and the cabin was amazing. The views and the landscape was absolutely stunning. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The parking lot was close by. The cabin was quite far from any civilization, just in the middle of beautiful nature. I wish we would have been able to stay a bit longer.
Since the cabin is situated on the hillside we were quite exposed to a pretty bad rainstorm in the night. The house would shake a bit and it was quite loud. To me it was quite cozy and I loved it, but my mom was a bit scared. No critizism of the cabin itself, just something to keep in mind if you travel with anxious folk.

Excellent space, location, view and lots of storage space. Handy kitchen ie microwave kettle toaster coffeemaker and also some utilities eg oil salt sugar. Got the 1 bedroom for a good discount because of genius 3 level. Beautiful cat came to our door every night. Free hot drinks at the beautiful reception lounge area. 2 twins, 1 spare and 1 sofa bed - lots of space to sleep, and extra bedding available too.
We didn’t use the stove as it wasn’t very clear how to. No room cleaning was offered or done.. might be a good idea to check in once in 2 days atleast. Didn’t have breakfast due to early starts unfortunately so can’t comment.. would have been good if it were included in the cost though. Beds were a bit springy and uncomfortable and narrow width, the sofa bed was much better.

Probably my favorite place we stayed during our Iceland trip. It was clean and comfortable, with the homeyness of a house but the privacy of a hotel room. We stayed two nights and it was a good location to get to Vik or the golden circle for the day. The land around is also very pretty—just a great, scenic place. Breakfast was great both days. There was also a deal going on when I booked the rooms so it ended up being one of the most affordable hotels that I booked on our trip.
No complaints!

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The location was perfect, offering easy access to local attractions and amenities. The house itself was warm and inviting, equipped with excellent facilities that made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We have managed to see the Northern Lights one of the nights, so that was a cherry on top! Highly recommended!
The only minor issue we encountered was that the WiFi disconnected a bit occasionally. However, this did not significantly impact our overall experience.

It was remote and quiet. Our room was away from any noise. Dining room was very comfortable and clean — well staffed (very polite and friendly) and well maintained. Loved the quiet areas with nice furniture for relaxing.
Could find no place to deposit a small bit of trash. (What is one supposed to do with trash in this country?) The American flag that was incorporated with the all-countries flags at the entrance—is displayed upside down.
