Breakfast with different cheeses, meat, marmelade. Bread and croissant, coffee/tea with orange juice. Yoghurt and fruit on top. Very good and more than enough. Excellent location to visit the D-day-beaches, close to Bayeux and Caen, close to Mont St. Michel. The place itself is very spacious, you have a "castle-feeling" and the environment is green and quiet. The host, James Hamel, is very welcoming and a fountain of information on sites to visit. His tips made it easier to visit some places. Thank you James !

The shower could have the shower head attached to the wall, a small improvement but much handier than having to keep the head in your hand while showering.

Greeted by the owner, he was very welcoming. He welcomed us with cold beer and juice before giving us a tour of the grounds, speaking of the Chateaus history during the second world war. Our rooms were spacious and antique with picturesque views of the Chateus grounds and outbuildings. If you walk to the bottom of the grounds you'll find an observatory overlooking the lake for birdwatching. The breakfast provided was plentiful. Serving fresh baguettes, croissants, organic yoghurt, jam, cheeses, fruit, juice, coffee and a selection of teas.

The Chateau is a historic building, and as such, there were a few cracks in which bugs can enter, but this was remedied immediately by the owner, and we didn't have any further problems.

location, atmosphere, history of the place, nice people, hospitality. For history lovers it is a balm for the soul. But you have to be prepared for the fact that the furnishings and equipment of the rooms breathe history. This is not a place for people who demand luxury. Saying goodbye to the owner of Le Chateau was quite emotional for our family.

James the owner and the history of the Villa -- the location was perfect, it was like travelling back in time. I would stay there again as it was that special for my wife and I. Many things to see and do in the area, especially if you are a WW II historian.

Not enough time to walk around the area

James was a wonderful host and the history of his family home was absolutely intriguing. We enjoyed our morning breakfasts with him as he helped us with ideas for our days. The farm is beautiful as well. We enjoyed the location as a central hub for seeing all the various landing beaches too.

James was a lovely host. We travelled to Normandy to enjoy the D Day experience just before the anniversary and to stay in a location that played a big role in such important times was amazing. We stayed in the Orangery bedrooms which had lots of space for us and a separate area for our 13 year old son.

Nothing we didn't like.

This is a very special timepiece set among the most beautiful locations. The welcome from James is unparalleled in both friendliness and sincerity. Accommodation was generous and bed extremely comfortable. If like me, you are interested in WW2 history or perhaps if you want an authentic countryside chateau experience, come with little expectations and you will be charmed and delighted. I loved this place and hope that I may be able to return some day..

Having to leave.

The history of the house was wonderful. The location was out away from the crowd but only a few minutes from town and restaurants and shops. The Normandy sights were close by and the house was central to most of them. We enjoyed the food and the host was wonderful.

We really don't have any complaints. The house is quite old and so has an older home musty smell and older bathroom facilities. All of these things are expected for older homes.

Super quiet location in Normandy countryside. Wonderfully friendly and helpful French owner, James, who told us all the history. The breakfast was typically continental - bread and croissants, Bonnemamman jams, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt, juice and coffee.

Unbelievable charm and history. The proprietor was genuinely friendly and engaged. My French and his better English accomplished everything I needed for the trip. The walled manor garden view is unparalleled for the price, especially at sunset. Looking forward to my return.
