Wow!!! If I could rate our stay here as infinity out of 10 I would! Incredible B&B in the heart of Split! Superb location within close proximity to Diocletian’s Palace, the Riva promenade. We initially booked for 2 nights, and we changed our plans from staying on the islands to spending another 2 nights! Mario and Luka went above and beyond for my wife and I. We have never received such tremendous service. From the moment of booking, Mario and Luka communicated punctually via Whats app to recommend how to get there from Plitvice Lakes. They arranged private parking for our hired car, and Luka was waiting for us as we arrived. Luka even assisted with following him to the nearest petrol station and helped me put petrol in the car and then followed him to the car hire drop off. He also gave us restaurant and other recommendations with a map of Split. Mario gave us a free tour of split old town! Mario and Luka have impeccable manners and professionalism in the way they communicate and treat their guests. The accommodation was amazing. We spent our first 2 nights in the Luxury 2 level room Modern design in an 18th century building, then 2 nights in the standard smaller room but that made no difference and still amazing as this B&B is that good! Spotlessly clean rooms, with extremely comfortable beds, smart TV (which we didn’t use as there is too much to see in Split!), stunning bathrooms with olive oil shampoo and shower gel and overhead shower heads. Incredible fresh 3 course breakfast served by Mario (felt like 5 course). Mario kept asking if we wanted more croissants which are baked by them with fantastic local jams. Mario even remembers the coffee you prefer and how you like your eggs the next morning (it is that attention to detail that makes you feel special, as if you are a celebrity). Their restaurant is highly recommended for dinner! Amazing seafood pasta! Loved this place! Exceeded expectations is an understatement! Thank you!!! Perfection…

If you’re planning on heading to Split, you don’t need to consider where to stay because booking with Makarun won’t disappoint. I absolutely loved staying here, nothing is too much bother, it’s like home abroad, you get everything you requested and more. The owners will do anything for you, the food at the restaurant is absolutely outstanding, and the breakfast is made with local produce & prepared beautifully, it will keep you going until lunch. I did a boat trip that left before breakfast and asked for my breakfast to go, the guys made me a cute pack lunch and left it outside my door, it made my trip extra special , I dined and wined in the restaurant and got treated like a queen. As a young traveller, it’s definitely a place that cheers you up and provides you with a quiet place to relax in a luxury bed, cosy sheets, hot shower and comfortable living space. The Wi-FI is strong and you can relax by catching up on Netflix, cocktails or wine and a nice strong coffee. The rooms are beautiful designed giving that relaxing calm vibe and are so spacious and clean, I always check bathroom first when checking into a place and it was spotless, love all the wee shampoos and soap, shaver, gives extra touch. They offer pick up service, Luka met me in the square, he gave me lots of information, and recommendations of where to visit & the best ways to travel around on a budget, and if I needed anything at anytime to text him, true hosts, I booked a few nights and ended up extending my stay as I didn’t want to leave, it’s truly magnificent and I cannot wait to stay again, it’s the best place I’ve stayed in and I’ve travelled around a bit, it’s a dream location, in the heart of the old town, so much to see and do and every member of the Makarun team treat you like a queen 👑

We started our vacation in Split and I had seen this accommodation a few times on booking.com when searching for a place to stay. I am extremely glad we picked this accommodation as it completely exceeded my expactions. Makarun Heritage Rooms is by far the most welcoming accommodation I have every stayed! I want to give a big thanks to Mario and Luka who picked us up at a parking lot and helped us out with the luggage. While we were walking into the pedestrian zon,e to the rooms we already received a lot of information about the city and a list of restaurants that we should go to. Not the touristic places, but good quality food places that locals eat themselves. The rooms were super nice, clean and provided us with a lot of facilities, we stayed at the top floor room and it was incredible. The breakfast provided in the restaurant downstairs is a breakfast I would like to eat everyday. Mario made sure that we were provided with everything we wanted. Both the coffee, mimoza's and the food tastes really good. The location of the accommodation is perfect as it cannot be more central in the old town of Split. You are close to everything and by arrival we also got a lot of explanation about the town and places we should visit. This place was so good, that we decided to come back at the end of our holiday. We stayed in another room and also this room was completely provided with good sheets, bathroomfacilities, good wifi, smart TV and fridge. On our last day, Mario gave a tour through the Diocletian's Palace and had a lot of interesting stories about the history of the city. Thank you for this again! The stay at Makarun Heritage Rooms truly made our vacation! We would suggest this place to everyone who is planning on visiting Split.

Makarun is the perfect place to stay in Split. I am impressed with their exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Luka and Mario were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any request. The breakfast experience was amazing, thanks to the fabulous chef Nena, who makes the best homemade croissants and delicious scrambled eggs. Cosidering the level of service and value for money, this was by far one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. I highly recommend Makarun rooms to anyone seeking a memorable and enjoyable stay with outstanding service.

This place is a real gem. It is situated right in the heart Old Town which is really the best place to be in Split. The rooms are spacious, clean and have everything you need including tea and coffee and even a smart tv with Netflix. The breakfast is one of the best I’ve had with lots of locally sourced Croatian produce (the croissants are to die for). The real stars of the show are definitely the hosts - Mario and Luka. They really go out of their way to make your trip amazing including taking you on a free walking tour of Old Town and giving lots of recommendations about the best places to eat, drink and visit. Highly recommend.

Mario and Luca were very accomodating. The room was very clean and we got a big bed that's comfortable. The breakfast, was a 3 course meal. Love the freshly baked croissants and and the home made yoghurt and fresh fruits that were locally sourced. Love the private walk tour with Mario, around the Old town and learned a lot about history without extra charges. Luca and Mario, gave us tips of local restaurants and tavern we can go to and places like local beaches, parks and museums that are near to the area. The staff were friendly. The property is situated in a convenient location, close to all local amenities.

everything was perfect , comfortable bed, great shower, Netflix you tube on tv, Luka & Mario go the extra mile!! Luka met us with our car and took our case, as we walked a few minutes he was very informative and super friendly ,upon arriving at the hotel our room wasn’t quite ready so he offered another room ( we were a few hours early ) he settled us into our room snd told us where to go what to avoid and marked everything on a map for us. we had the best nights sleep snd we’d had a long day so it was very early but the noise was minimal and silence after 11pm what can I say about breakfast 🤗🤗 this is where we met Mario , he was amazing too, nothing was too much trouble!! you must book with breakfast as it has super special touches that I won’t spoil , but I’ve never felt so welcome in any establishment as much as this

I would rate everything better than 10 if I could. We got absolutely the best personal service we have ever had in our many travels around the world. Both Mario and Luka are so friendly and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Croatia and Split specifically. Upon our arrival Luka met us in the square, helped us up to the room with our luggage and gave us a brief overview of Old Town, complete with a map for us to keep and several recommended restaurants and places to visit. In the morning Mario gave us a personalized tour of the Old Town and Palace. The room was very, very nice with all the amenities, including shampoos and shower gels that were completely natural, made with olive oil and all natural ingredients. The bed was fantastic. I had a backache from hauling my luggage around on the ferry and I woke up completely pain free. Breakfast was a gourmet meal with beautiful presentation. The ingredients were all home grown, home made and organic. My favorite part was the plum jam on a fresh warm croissant.

It was a little difficult to find, but Luka met us in the square and even offered to meet us at the ferry port.

Seriously everything. We have traveled quite a bit and to many countries and stayed in various types of accomodations. Makarun is simply amazing and offer an experience that is ummatched thus far. We were met at the parking garage by Luka. The garage is the closest to the old town. Luka helped us with the luggage, and also gave us a quick overview of the city. The room was gorgeous and fully stocked with water, olive-oil based shampoo and body soap, shavers and other toiletries, electric kettle plus tea and coffee, slippers, and beach towels too. So thoughtful. Breakfast is another highlight of the stay. 3-course buffet starting with freshly-made bread and home-made jams, followed by yoghurt with cornflakes and jam, eggs way to order, and finally fruits with ice cream. Fresh juice, prosecco and coffee are included too. Makarun offer a complimentary old town tour, conducted by Mario. Super informative, perfect for history buffs. We also had dinner in the restaurant with the same name and had a wonderful meal. The highlights are the squid-ink bread and the lamb rack. They deserve more than a 10.

Everything! We would rate it higher than a 10 if that were possible. Mario and Luka are the consummate hosts, so dedicated and proud of their incredible hotel and restaurant. They went out of their way to make us comfortable from the minute we arrived in Split to our departure. We wisely chose to eat at their restaurant one of our nights and had an incredible meal with the most outstanding server (literally one of the best I can ever remember.) Make sure to take the complimentary city tour...we had a wonderful time and learned so much. I hope we can return!
