Our car broke down 60 kms from the lodge and we were stuck in hwy 105. We were with our 11 yo, 5 yo and 2 month old children. No taxis and tow company was coming in atleast 2hrs. I called Trailsman Lodge if they have a service that can pick us up and very kindly, the owner came to our rescue. He drove 40mins to come pick us up while my husband stayed behind to wait for the tow truck and this was around 8pm. He only charged us a very reasonable amount. Very very kind man. As to our room, it was clean and the view was very nice. We will definitely stay here again.

The room was bright and clean....beds nice and comfortable....room comfortable.....nice view with shared deck from our room....at night it was quiet....
Our greeting upon checking in was a bit off putting....our reception upon entering office was quiet....no greeting.....we paid right then and there for 3 nights....once payment went through he got friendlier....lol...and the breakfast....although many people seemed to be chowing down happily...we found it all had a rather "fishy" taste...like they used the same grease for all that was cooked up....the bacon....not sure what it was...perhaps it was turkey bacon or something like that....but it had no flavor.....that was our experience anyway....

It is a quiet, clean, place to stop on your way to the Cabot Trail. The staff was very pleasant. The dining room is large and overlooks the water. It's well maintained and very comfortable. It came with a very nice breakfast. It's priced nice too :)
There wasn't anything I didn't like. I really can't find any faults with the place. Next time I go to Cape Breton, I will stay there again. I was very pleasantly surprised when my wife, daughter, and I arrived. We arrived shortly before closing, and the staff was thoughtful enough to call us and make certain we were arriving before he left. Very thoughtful young man :)

The Trailsman Lodge was exactly as described. A roadside motel/lodge, on a lake, with an outdoor pool and HUGE balcony overlooking the lake. The rooms were renovated, immaculately clean and really well appointed. Shower water pressure was terrific, lots of hot water, towels were thick and white/clean. large entry area into the room with open closet/shelving for your suitcases along with a fold out stand to open and unpack. On the opposite end of the room was a large picture window for lake view and a door opening directly onto the long communal deck with wooden 'Muskoka' chairs and foot rests. The beds were very comfortable, not too hard, not too soft and the bedding linens were clean and crisp. The large TV worked well and internet was never a problem. The view of the lake was stunning and quite relaxing, the heated outdoor pool was clean and water was a comfortable temperature. Best included breakfast of the trip, 3 steam trays with fresh scrambled eggs, has browns and sausages along with fresh fruit, cereal, toast & jams, etc. a separate cooler had juices and milk. What a terrific way to start the day. The price per night was very reasonable, the rooms were clean and comfy, the view of the lake & sunsets were amazing and starting with a good breakfast each day really capped of a wonderful stay. I would recommend this accommodation to all travelers and I would book it again in a heartbeat.

The Trailsman Lodge is a perfect property located near Baddeck for staying for anyone coming to Cabot trail. The property itself is so scenic with a view of the lake. The double queen room was clean and was comfortable to stay for 3 nights we were in. We enjoyed the property with pool and trampoline for kids, and the place is stunning to sit outside the fire pit and cabana. They have lots of option for breakfast, including side of fruits, potatoes and eggs, and bread for vegetarian family like us. My daughter really loved her stay and did not want to leave :) We will definitely come back when in Cape Breton the next time. I highly recommend this property for families with small kids and for families overall. Thank you so much for your hospitality and a memorable stay. ❤️

I liked the restful view, lake was lovely and the presence of the geese as well. The breakfast room was very nice, with beautiful views all sides. I liked that there were 2 windows in the room, giving lots of light, not like depressing places with one little window. It was an advantage to have breakfast on site and not have to travel to eat, with exception of dinner and the Red Barn had good reasonable food. Also it was nice to be near the confluence of the highway that led to the highway going to the Cabot Trail. If i wanted to go to another area, that also was closer than being in town. Thank you for changing the lightbulb, it made for easier reading after dusk. Being able to sit out in the back on the deck or walk on the wharf, was very nice.
I would suggest more signage on the PEI approach because I passed this coming in, because I had no idea how close to Bedeck that I was and concentrating on the highway. Perhaps I should have had my phone on, and programed my trip that way, but my problem with that. I do think some physical signage might help others like myself. I did find that some of the lights do not work. In the summer it doesn't matter, but in the winter it might, after all we are here to sleep.

I really only used the room to sleep and then have breakfast in the morning. I was on a 1000 mile motorcycle trip and the location at the base of the Cabot Trail was perfect. The views of the lake and mountains were amazing. The breakfast area was a full restaurant (buffet style breakfast with eggs/sausage/hashbrowns, COFFEE etc) with the lake and mountain view. Spacious, clean, and neat. My room with one queen bed was clean, neat, more modern, quiet, and the air conditioner worked! The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Much better than the place I'd stayed the night before. The price was reasonable and was frankly the reason I chose it, along with it's location near the Cabot Trail. I praise the Lord I got more than I expected. Would be a nice place to stay for longer. The owner was great too!

Check in was quick and easy; comfortable outside seating with view of the lake; bed was comfortable; shower pressure was exceptional!; breakfast included fresh pineapple and watermelon and fresh banana bread (delicious and unexpected treats). Mack the owner was on site and is very invested in keeping his guests happy.
It was very noisy when doors closed and walls were thin. The microwave in the hall instead of one in the room. I wanted to make popcorn, but didn't want to fill the hallway with popcorn smell. Kleenex dispenser was empty.

It was great. The view was amazing, the pool was clean and warm. Trampoline for the kids. Very convenient location. We were there for 2 days and were able to travel all over the island due to the hotel being in the center of the island. There is entertainment for the evening( air hockey, table tennis). The room was cleaned while we were traveling. And they even took care of the dolls ( my 6 year old daughter, she was thrilled). For 2 days of our vacation the breakfast menu was different.
It was so great, it was hard to leave.

Wonderful friendly people from reception to leaving. We had a room without a lake view but had trees and it was lovely. Walking around the property was breathtaking. Room and other buildings spotless. Breakfast in the gorgeous dinning room was excellent. The written guide in the folder in the room was the best l have ever seen. Congratulations for the amazing place you have created, We will tell everyone what a great place to stay we will be back Thank-you.
Nothing.
