A fab choice! So welcoming, the best location possible and at a great price also. (Shared bathrooms for all rooms though) We loved the garden, the crazy bush turkeys roaming around and the bargain price brekkie. The awesome Sydney skyline is only a few hundred meters away. Really happy with our stay and my family loved it equally as much. This will be my base from now on for any future Sydney vacations.
No car parking so leave the car outside the city centre.

A Hidden Gem in Sydney: My Unforgettable Stay at Glenferrie Lodge Staying at Glenferrie Lodge was an experience beyond words—a rare find that feels like home yet offers so much more. From the moment I arrived, I was charmed by its quaint, welcoming vibe and unbeatable affordability. Nestled in the peaceful suburb of Kirribilli, the lodge places you a stone’s throw away from Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, and the bustling heart of the city. Yet, it feels like a tranquil escape—a perfect balance of accessibility and serenity. What truly set my stay apart was the care and thoughtfulness put into every detail. The breakfast offered here was chef’s kiss—a full, satisfying spread that far exceeded my expectations for the price. And as someone who thrives on tea and coffee, the complimentary 24/7 beverage station with hot and cold water, milk, and tea was such a thoughtful touch. This is the kind of hospitality that makes you feel truly cared for, a rare treat in today’s fast-paced world. Hearing that Glenferrie Lodge is set to close permanently on November 28, 2024, has truly broken my heart. This lodge isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a sanctuary, a little slice of Sydney that feels like it was made just for me and for countless travelers who value warmth, comfort, and charm over sterile luxury. I can’t imagine my future visits to Sydney without it. I hope—no, I pray—that a miracle can stop this from happening. Glenferrie Lodge deserves to continue being a haven for all who seek a heartfelt and affordable stay near Sydney’s most iconic landmarks. Should it remain open, I wouldn’t think twice about booking it every time I find myself in this beautiful city. To the team at Glenferrie Lodge, thank you for every memory, for every warm morning, and for every little touch that made my stay unforgettable. I’ll treasure the moments spent in your care and hope, against all odds, that this gem remains for many travelers to come.
Nothing at all!!!

The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The location far surpasses the backpacker hotels located on the busy main road leading to Bondi Beach.
This hotel is closing on November 28 because it has been sold and will be repurposed as luxury accommodation of some sort. We will need a new place to stay in Sydney which is a real shame as we really like the Kiribilli area with its jacaranda trees, gardens and quietness. Even the P.M. lives there! We used a taxi from The Rocks to reach the hotel due to the extent of our luggage and the uphill climb from the ferry. Rolling down to the ferry from the hotel when we left was a breeze despite the stairs.

A perfect location surrounded by Sydney icons and in a convenient place with access to nearby ferry from Kirribilli to Circular Quay and the train from Milson's Point to Wynyard, Central, Circular Quay and North Sydney stations nearby. The most iconic and popular attractions for tourists is also in close proximity; I visited Taronga Zoo, Luna Park, Sydney Opera House, BridgeClimb Sydney and Gallery of NSW within walking distance or by public transport. Short walk to the Harbour Bridge with plenty of cafe's and restaurants, Milson's Point train station and walking path to cross over the bridge to the Rocks, taking in all the sights. Breakfast had all the options provided which was great for a smaller dining room space, felt very welcoming and with a large front room with couches as well as small and large tables for guests to dine. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, happy to answer all my questions. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sydney.
No negative experiences at the hotel, was very satisfied with all the facilities provided.

lovely old building. and the location is amazing. my room was very clean and comfy.
Sharing bathrooms has its downsides, obviously. One of the bathrooms was on usable as someone had left water all over the floor plus lots of hair, and urine still sitting in the toilet bowl. Very offputting to say the least. The shower overflowed … All over the entire bathroom floor, and I had to use both my towels to keep my feet dry enough to get dressed. I did not have an extra long shower either.

This is just a lovely property. The neighbourhood is so calm and quiet and residential, but so easy to get the ferry across to Circular Quay. It was extremely quiet in the hotel at night and the breakfast was very good. The ferry landing is just round the corner and it takes 6 minutes to Circular Quay. I'd recommend keeping an eye on ferry times as they only go every hour in the evenings.
Nothing really - I had a room on the ground floor with shared bathroom but I didn't see any other guests using the bathroom at the same time as me. The area might be too quiet for some but I enjoyed it. Nearest shops and bars are 10 minute walk away.

we did love the second room we had....as it was less noisy. (the Currawong next to the first room woke me at 5am. Thanks for being so accommodating.
Our only problem was when we paid for parking for two nights. The first night was great - but the second night was problematic because we got locked out of the parking area. (That was the main reason we booked it....so that we could have parking after the wedding reception on the Friday night.) It would have worked perfectly had you only texted me the code for the combination lock. We spent a lot of time driving around to find a local park and walking back to the accommodation.

Staff were incredibly helpful with every single thing I asked. Breakfast was good, scrambled or fried eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, fruit (looked and tasted like canned peaches every time I ate there but they were fine), yoghurt, some cereals, tea, coffee and a couple of juices. It was filling and varied enough for me. I would strongly recommend including breakfast when you book - I didn't. Maybe the nearby cafe does breakfasts but in the rain I didn't feel like going to find it so I had breakfast at Glenferrie lodge each day. It was only $15 each time, very reasonable for what they offered, and they take credit cards, but it would have been convenient to already have it taken care of in my booking. Very close to the ferry but a 10-15 minute walk to other transport and the local shops (which had everything I needed during my 4-day stay) Quiet neighbourhood, quiet place to stay. Dining room was open until 10pm each day with tea and coffee (although breakfast was the only meal provided). I was able to bring take-out dinners back and eat them there instead of being cooped up in my small room. There is also a garden which looked like a nice place to hang out but when I wasn't busy it was usually raining so I didn't get to enjoy it myself.
Upon arrival, reverse cycle air con in my room wasn't working. I needed heating and the staff very promptly provided a small portable heater which worked well. Room was smaller than I expected - barely functional. Unfortunately both the extra heater they gave me and the broken system already there took up floor space and made the room feel even smaller. It would have been nice if they'd removed the broken system but to be fair, I didn't ask. Shared bathroom but that's probably my oversight when booking. At least it was very close to my room, and they kept it very clean.

The location is superb and the hotel serves a very good breakfast. It is an attractive property with a very pleasant garden. All in all, it is a very good place to stay for a few days in Sydney.
They are still not doing proper in-stay room servicing, just emptying the bin and perhaps changing the towel. Although I could understand this during the initial period of the re-opening after COVID, we really are at the stage now where proper, daily room servicing should once again have become the norm. This is the reason for marking them down on cleanliness - the cleaning that they actually do is fine and the bathrooms and common areas are always clean and in good order. It is just that they do not clean the rooms except between stays.

Kirribili is excellent location. Near to the tourist area with lots of restaurants nearby and accessible by walk, ferry and train. The location is one stop away from Kirribilli to the iconic Sydney Opera House. The stayed in single room with shared bathroom - the room is clean spacious enough for me. They don't have amenities in the room so you need to request it from their reception or housekeeping. I suggest you bring your own so no need to go outside your room since room service telephone is not available. The receptionists are friendly and informative about the location.
I think they can give information / location guide to all the guest one day before arrival how they can reach in the lodge from specific point so that it will be easier for them to follow especially for those who have no available internet and carrying luggage by themselves.
